Josh Sullivan One of my favorite bands in Nashville. This band rocks and Travels is a fantastic record. There are so many great stories on this record. I definitely recommend picking this one up and checking out the Dangerous Method live if you get the chance. Favorite track: Indianapolis.

Salzburg 03:28
Pardon me, my friend, I think you’ve missed the point You should have stopped to see the view But the shops are opening at half past nine And all you want to do is buy some shoes Well, go ahead and waste your time, but don’t expect me to join you ‘Cause I’m not going anywhere you could go if we were in Ohio When we only have one day in Salzburg And if you don’t go, you’ll never know what you’ve missed And you will never realize that there is Something waiting further along this ride That you would not have noticed otherwise I don’t want to be another lazy traveler Taking everything for granted on the way to the next point of interest I just want to breathe the air and drink the water And appreciate the place I am right now ‘Cause tomorrow I’m not certain where I’ll be I’ll admit there’ve been some times when I’ve lost perspective Seeing with my camera rather than my eyes But I’ve listened hard and heard the sound of music And I’ve tried my best to keep the hills alive So look around, see everything you can, and don’t let it bore you And don’t look back, ‘cause if you do, you’ll miss the road that is before you And you’ll find yourself lost in Salzburg And if you don’t go, you’ll never know what you’ve missed And you will never realize that there is Something waiting further along this ride That you would not have noticed otherwise I don’t want to be another lazy traveler Taking everything for granted on the way to the next point of interest I just want to breathe the air and drink the water And appreciate the place I am right now ‘Cause tomorrow I’m not certain where I’ll be But I hope it’s with you, and we’ll visit all the fortresses and birthplaces of geniuses we see Come on and breathe the air with me

Nashville 03:02
As I sit among the ruins of a monument to glory Gazing down upon the city of my birth I wonder if these ruins are the end of someone else’s story And if the architect knew how much they’d be worth And the bell rings out for freedom of expression of the mind And the thousands coming here in search of what they’ll never find And this city holds a hundred million dreams that won’t come true Am I just another dreamer? One of many, one of few? Always seeing and never touching loses interest for a moment And you have to reconsider where you are You get drawn into a stained glass sanctuary, you behold it And you hear the sound of rain and steel guitars And you try to tell your story, from the corner to the stage But you find out that the streets aren’t filled with gold, but paved with rage So you’re right back where you started, but you’re closer to the end You’ve discovered that the secret is to begin again Now the things you once believed in have been traded For a chance at getting paid or being graded But I won’t take this bitter pill, I am not in it for the kill And I’m never going back to Nashville

Prague 02:40
I have a strange desire to walk the streets of Prague alone tonight I know that might make me a heretic But all I know is it just feels so right And I might take my jacket off and walk out in the rain today See, I’m not afraid of catching cold And I don’t care what you say So you want to excommunicate me And burn me to ash You can defenestrate me And throw me out with the trash But I’m hiding in my castle to which you’ll never find the key And I don’t care what you say about me So when they come to take me, I swear I won’t have my back against the wall I’m either gonna go down swinging Or I won’t be going down at all And I’m not sure if I’m the only person in the world who likes it here But we all have our own private hell And some are filled with crystal, blood, and beer So you want to excommunicate me And burn me to ash You can defenestrate me And throw me out with the trash But I’m hiding in my castle to which you’ll never find the key And I don’t care what you say about me

Clarksville 02:40
Go down to the store to pick some milk, but be careful you don’t get stabbed There are dangerous men out there in the streets of Clarksville And if you see someone standing in the cereal aisle with a vacant, blank expression It means they ain’t made it home, and they probably never will The last train left here years ago And it’s left you standing in the freezing cold Why don’t you just go back where you came from, dear? Anywhere has gotta be better than here Well the wind picks up the stink off the river and spreads it all over town You’ve gotta cover your nose and breath through your mouth just to stand it And if you’re tired of living here with me, just think about how it could be worse You could be living here alone Well if you’re looking for fun, you’re out of luck The only things to do here are get high and fuck The drugs are bad and the sex is, too But if you put the two together you can make it through So would you like to go and hold up a liquor store, or have you got something better planned? I guess you could always go back to school if you want to Or go down to the base and join up with the army and go fight in a foreign land I hear they’re taking every man that they can get Well now that’s a thought If nothing changes around here, you’ll end up killing someone anyway So you might as well go do it and get paid But if you leave me here alone, I might just go insane But I’ll meet you at the station if you take the last train

Indianapolis 03:29
I woke up in a hotel room Several hundred miles from you Instead of waking up on your cold basement floor There was something that I thought I had to do I thought I was above it all All those parties you would throw So I planned my weekends around Bible quizzing tournaments And when you’d invite me I could never go Now I regret that trip to Indianapolis I could have blown it off. I barely remember it. I could have been more fun, not the self-righteous preacher’s son I was I could have shown you all more love I saved myself for marriage And to this day, I’ve never gotten high I always told myself I had the moral high ground But maybe I was just too scared to try So let me throw my arms around your And we’ll dance until our feet are sore And if I travel to the Midwest in the spring It won’t be for the same reasons anymore Now I regret that trip to Indianapolis I could have blown it off. I barely remember it. I wish I’d not done what I did, like the judgmental, stupid kid I was I wish I’d shown you all more love

London 05:25
Is there a bank around here that’s open on Saturdays? Can somebody please tell me what the hell is going on? The end of the beginning is coming and I’m getting restless They can destroy themselves whatever way they see fit But I’m heading down West End Avenue now Attempting to find something time won’t allow me to get Now I don’t know what brought us here in the first place, or on whose head to position the blame And I don’t know where I’m going, or how to play by the tangled up rules of this game He always gave himself fully to anyone who paid attention When you should have held back just enough of himself to have something to give to the next one And she didn’t know what she wanted, so she took everything he was giving But the ending would never be happy in spite of all her so-called perfect intentions Nothing has worked out so far, so I guess I’ll give up Think I’ll go talk a walk in the park to wear in my new shoes It doesn’t seem like it should still be this hot in October But I see dozens of people with cameras enjoying the sun I am alone underneath the blue sky And I think to myself that if you were here this would be fun Now I think back fondly on my time in London, where the sky had its own distinct fashion of blue And I don’t know how to describe it, so I guess I’ll just have to find a way to go back there with you We’ll take a walk by the river and watch the sun set on Waterloo station Immersing ourselves in The Beatles, and Shakespeare, Ray Davies, and Charles Lutwidge Dodgson Pitch a tent by a statue of Churchill, and you might keep an army from marching But I think anyone who claims to be in search of world peace Should head down to Kensington Gardens Where we’ll chase the ghost of Peter Pan, the Watchmen and the Sandman And we’ll figure out where they went wrong so that we can right And if you stay beside me, I’ll try and make sure there’s a place for you here in my arms Every night for the rest of our lives He has to let her go, but I’ll never let you go We’ll be as different from them as we can possibly be And the blue skies over London don’t mean anything If I don’t have you to stand here beneath them with me You make me free, and show me who I am If this is the end of the beginning, then I guess I’m ready to start over again
